Welcome to Youth On A Mission in Vero Beach, Florida

We provide an opportunity for youth and adults to serve local, out-of-state and foreign communities. Serving a week away from home enhances the opportunity for teens to form relationships with all who serve with us, and explore who they are and how they relate with God and others.  We choose to focus on building a community through our services that lead us and others to worship and praise God.

MISSION STATEMENT

We work physically and spiritually to help people less fortunate than ourselves.  We look for special gifts and talents in the people we meet, and share our gifts and talents with others.  We look for Jesus in those we are serving, and in those who serve with us.  We seek to recognize all the blessings we have that we often take for granted.

OUR GOALS

• To experience “God” through mission trips and service projects

• To meet teens from around the country and to bond with the other youth who share our vision

• To have good clean fun and help our neighbors who we do not know in a real way and build teamwork, relationship skills and develop leadership skills.

See our Youth In Action page to read about how it all began and the  criteria we use to choose the communities and people we help.  This year we will be going to Marsh Harbor in the Bahamas during the last week of May; our local Youth Summer Mission will be in June, and in July we will be travelling to Taise, France.  To apply for a Mission, download the forms from the Mission Trips & Applications page. 

We desperately need your help on the John Carroll  Habitat House, which is being sponsored by John Carroll High School and St. Lucie Battery & Tire.  If you are able to help out, please contact Richard Schlitt.

Donations are always welcomed!  Each year we are in need of finding 20 people to sponsor our adult chaperones and their cost for going on the trip. We also need funds for local service projects that are done through Youth in Action. With whatever money is left over, we put it towards the materials we use on our summer mission projects so as not to burden the communities we serve. Please make your checks payable to St. Helen Catholic Church with a memo  noting "Youth on a Mission" and send to Richard Schlitt, 1830 Commerce Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960. Donation are greatly appreciated.
